Update 30/1/2010

Well,  the course is marked, the finish in the field laid out and all the arrangements being confirmed.  There has been snow in Lumphanan last night (see the final finishing straight this morning below), but it is soft and the route is due to be gritted again by the council and McIntosh Plant tomorrow morning.

If anything changes we will let you know on the website as soon as possible.

Update 11/1/2010

It is with regret that we are again postponing the Lumphanan Detox 10k to Sunday 31st January 2010 for safety reasons.

The extreme cold weather is not forecasted to improve for several days and we are concerned that the ice and snow will not clear sufficiently before the 16th January.

Update 4/1/2010

Happy New Year.  The Detox 10K run has been rescheduled for 16th January.  Just to give you some idea of the conditions that caused the postponement, this photo was taken on part of the course on 2nd Jan.  Compare this with the view last year further down the page.

See the new poster for details here.  Any queries please contact detox10k@yahoo.co.uk or phone 013398 83576

Update 30/12/2009 - 1500.

RACE POSTPONED - Provisional New Date 16th January
Following further snowfall overnight and a review of the course and surrounding conditions, the decision has been taken to postpone the event for safety reasons for two weeks to a provisional date of 16th January.

All registered runners will be contacted by email with fuller details.

Update 29/12/2009 - Entries now at 217.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Lumphanan, like most of the country, has been hit by the severe weather over the past week or so.  This has left large parts of the course and village ice-bound and with a thick layer of frozen snow.  The route has been inspected regularly to see if it is still in a safe condition to run the event.  As runner's safety is paramount, there will be a final inspection in the afternoon of Wednesday 30th December, and in conjunction with a review of the weather forecast, it might be the case that the run is postponed to later in January.

We will update the website and email runners as soon as a decision is made.

Please bear with us whilst we make the correct decision for all concerned.

Update 20/12/2009 - Entries now at 183.

Update 12/12/2009 - Entries now at 150.

Update 6/12/2009 - Entries now at 128.

Update 29/11/2009 - Entries now at 102.

Update 20/11/2009 - Entries now at 83. Max field is 400.

LCRA would like to thank all the competitors for coming to Lumphanan from far and wide for the event, and hope that you all enjoyed the day.  Please let us know any feedback or suggestions you have by dropping us an email as we value your opinion and want to continue to build on the event in the future.

LCRA would also like to thank all the marshals, event officials and volunteers for their time, commitment and enthusiasm in organising the event at this busy time of year, from preparing food and manning the desks in the registration hall to cheering all competitors on all round the course and tidying up afterwards.

And finally a special thank you to Neil Stewart who has been the mainstay in organising the event since it's inception.  This was to be his last Detox as coordinator and it was good to finish on such a high and hand the baton over to someone else, though I'm sure he'll still be actively involved in the future.

Jan 2008

The John R. Weir Detox 10k Road Race was held on 2nd January 2008 at 11.30am. This was another successful event and the results can be viewed from Here.

Multi-sports Court – Opened by Councillor Bruce Luffman in October 2005, the multi–sports court is now well used by the village primary school, various local clubs, and many individuals, couples and families. The most popular sports are 5 –aside football, tennis and netball.

An annual membership scheme of the multi-sports court was introduced in late 2005. This enables local residents to join the club for a very competitive rate and play pretty much when they want (subject to availability). There is also a ‘pay as you play’ system; allowing anyone (or any club) to come along and enjoy the facility.
